Re: New Build from the States

Thanks for the quick replies. I think it’s a few different things. One is the rubber/aftermarket bonnet seal. The other one is the age of the unit. Meaning the latches. On my black Jensen, it has very few miles and the latches are obviously newer. I’m pretty sure when I trimmed the rubber down aroun...

Re: New Build from the States

Was wondering if any of you have modified or come up with a better hood latch system. Sorry Bonnet. Below is a picture of the original latch in the Coupe. New old Stock from Craig at Martin Robey. And something I got online. ? So each one of the three Jensen’s we have acts differently. The black one...

Re: New Build from the States

Thank You All

With two Interceptors and one Coupe, one might think I've had enough. However an FF would be kind of nice

Re: New Build from the States

Finished
Took about six weeks before I got the pieces back from the chromer.
Ended up having to make the joint clips from scratch. The new ones that I ordered from Martin Robey were not usable.
Over the last four months we’ve been taking the car out and really enjoying it. :D

Re: New Build from the States

Mark Stuart just came by for the final test fit. Still A few more steps before the final chrome, super stoked. I never planned on using the front windscreen rubber to install the rear window. It was one of those accidents that worked out great. Because the rear rubber comes from the same mold as a f...

Re: New Build from the States

Some people are really clever and have simple thoughtful clever tricks up their sleeve from many years of previous experience, they are very rich in cleverness https://joc.org.uk/smiles/big_standart/yes.gif Finding these individuals is hard and sadly they are a dying breed now and sadly these skill...

Re: New Build from the States

It’s taken a little over four weeks of him coming by once or twice a week to get to this point. Here is a pic of Mark S. just before taking the two half’s back to his shop to get them ready for chroming.

Re: New Build from the States

Mark and I then spent several days trying different techniques to bend and manipulate the original brass. He ended up figuring out how to make it all work. Which entailed making custom jigs and bending presses.

Re: New Build from the States

So basically the process was taking a few full front windscreen trim pieces that were from donor cars and having them D chromed. Then cutting them into usable sections.

Re: New Build from the States

Other than some gremlins the only unfinished project which I’ve been dreading for over two years was making the rear windscreen trim. This is one of those projects that’s definitely way above my pay grade. I had to reach back out to Mark S. who originally helped me with the car. A true master crafts...

Re: New Build from the States

Hi Mark, I like the gas struts and also the heat shielding on the hood, nice! Do you still need to use the hood prop rod or are they strong enough on their own? Keep those two beauties between the ditches, John Hello John, Sorry for the delayed response. The gas struts work great however you do nee...

Re: New Build from the States

K&D in America has these now. George figured out the stroke and pressure, then had a bunch manufactured with the label Jensen interceptor on them. Highly recommended.
