Re: Wiper Spindle Repair
If its the inner not driving the outer, Id' suggest carefully centre punch between the outer and inner, drill a ~ 3mm hole (so half in the outer, half in the inner) and then use a 3mm bit of SS rod to act as a sort-of keyway. Belt and braces would be to do this 180 degrees opp for 2 x pins. You coul...

Re: Engine and gearbox oil
I use Penrite mineral 20W-60 for the engine (as it has added ZDDP - Zinc for flat tappet engines) and Castrol Dex III for the gearbox (over here Dex II is almost impossible to find). Never had issues with either and generally reasonably priced.

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi,
I don't think they are anything special, but I fitted these from the bay of E.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333910136972
I know they are not imperial/SAE threads, but they did the job for my 'issue'.
Hope it helps!

Re: Block stampings
Per,
My 383 also looks to have something similar to the '1' stamping(s).
As many pictures that I took during the engine rebuild, there wasnt a clearer one unfortunately but Ive circled where the #1 stampings are the same as yours.
No idea why they are there though.
Cheers

I think if you hover over the topic of your reply (i.e Re: Creating a link of a thread) then you can right-click and copy the link address and then paste into something else.

Agree however..not the easiest!

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi everyone, Just bringing this one to a close as I realised I hadn't posted a final update. So, the short story is 'proper' isolation mounts fitted (no bolts through the middle), a new HV pump installed and oil cooler back in circuit and now all nice and quiet. I drove around for a while with the o...

Re: Camshaft wear ??
That cams good for the bin....throw away and start again. That looks like there has a been a oil supply issue as the pick-up on those lobes is pretty bad so much that as mentioned, looks like the case hardening has failed and the softer metal underneath has started disintegrate. This could have been...

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi everyone, I've finally had the chance to fit some rubber blocks to try to mimic the rubber mounts originally and as Peter pointed out. For those playing at home..these are the little blighters: Screenshot 2021-10-19 181655.png And...DEFINATELY a big improvement. Its fair to say that the noise is ...

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi Peter... Holy moly...went to look and I have no rubber mounts at all. The filter is mounted directly to the inner wing on mine. Id really like this fix to be the reason!...I will definitely owe you a beer or 10 if it turns out to be true! I`ll try mounting it on some rubber blocks first and then ...

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Thanks gents for the replies. Mines a stock engine, so sounds like there is no real reason to go for a HV pump. Grant, its something that has crossed my mind as well having read (and contributed) to the posts I think you refer to. Ive made sure the oil level is OK and my calculated value sees the oi...

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
I seem to recall that it can and does reach well over 100 degrees F in Perth, Western Australia.... Yeah it gets quite toasty here in summer (40C/105F ++). Think the hottest I've experienced is 47C/117F and that was hot hot. Anyway..its a process of elimination, so I`ll sort out a bypass ho...

Re: Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi Slotcar, Thanks for the reply and reading the saga. I listened to the recording and YouTube have reduced the quality a little when its been uploaded, but the noise is that buzzing/drone over the lower tones of the engine noise. Its best described as a resonance that seems to be transmitted from t...

Oil Pressure advise please.
Hi brains trust. OK, so bear with me on this one as this has been an ongoing 'issue' for years for me. Apologies for a lengthy description in advance! Background Initially when I purchased the car 8-ish years ago, it had had a tough life, and so when the oil pressure light used to 'flicker' at idle ...

Re: oil pump to canister connections on FF111
Thats what I have on my 383 Mk3 (non-FF), into the lower fitting and out of the upper one, but for a check, oil should flow into the outer of the filter and out of the inner. Whatever matches that (assuming you have the remote oil filter housing on the wing in an FF?)
Hope it helps.
