Re: DVLA- Pre 1974 tax

Mine came through the post this morning. The letter from the Club Gen Sec (thanks John!) did the trick in proving the date the car left the factory. I was surprised to receive the new tax disc from DVLA when I'd only applied to change the class. I was expecting to have to go to the post office to ge...

Re: DVLA- Pre 1974 tax

I emailed DVLA for clarification of the process yesterday. Amazingly I received an answer this morning. No new info, but at least it seems they are getting their act together in time for the change. Email content: ------ The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in his 2013 Budget speech an extensio...

Re: DVLA- Pre 1974 tax

Just checked the gov.uk website today and the date has been changed to 01/01/74 here: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-exempt-from-car-tax" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; However, DVLA's info sheet INF34 still shows the old date.

Some progress.

Re: DVLA- Pre 1974 tax

Just had my application for change of class rejected by the DVLA. They returned all my docs & forms with a standard letter stating that the reason for rejection is that my car was not manufactured before 01/01/73. It seems that the new date is not yet applicable. I'll try again in a few weeks. L...

My forms are in the post to DVLA so we'll see if they bounce them.

Re: Tax exempt cars

Spurred into action by an article in the latest Practical Classics which indicates that changing class for pre 74 cars is now possible, I've assembled the relevant documentation and posted it off to DVLA. I've applied for a change of taxation class to Historic and (based on a note on the V5C) I've a...

Re: Tax exempt cars

My situation is more complicated as the car was registered in Feb 74 but according to the Statement of Origin from Robey's it left the factory in October 73. The current tax runs out at the end of March so I guess I'll have to re-tax it in the existing class, then get the class changed to historic o...

Re: Interceptor Mk1 VDA 675G Silvertone Auctions

I heard it went for a hammer price of 26k so that sounds about right when you add on comission.

I had a brief look at it this afternoon while looking at another un-sold car they had. To my (very) untrained eye it looks like the buyer has done well.

Re: A most amazing local, monthly informal car & bike show

Any one know if this is on again tomorrow (Tuesday 13th)? I though I might go along as the weather looks to be ok.

Martin - any advice (apart from getting there before 5pm which unfortunately I can't manage), as the village website is a bit light on information such parking etc.?

Re: A most amazing local, monthly informal car & bike show

Thanks for posting, Martin. I never knew this took place and it's only about 20 miles from me. I've put it in the calendar for September. A quick google gives a little info (not much more than you though) - http://www.ashbyfolville.com/classic-cars-bikes/" onclick="window.open(this.href);r...

Seen just now while waiting for the bus in Aalborg, Denmark. Poor photo, I'm afraid (into sun, phone etc.). No idea what it is, but it was resplendent in BRG and had small Union Jacks on the side of the bonnet.
