Re: Jensen 541 Aluminium Sills - HOW MUCH????

My 1957 541 has aluminium sills, and is not an early road car (chassis#129)...are there any 541/R/S produced with sills of any other material than alumimium? 541R and 541S sills were made from GRP. The factory moulds for these have been in the hands of the JOC since the closure of Jensen Motors in ...

Re: Jensen Liquidation May 1976

I was the JOC Spares Secretary at the time, having been persuaded to take on the 'Spares Department' from Len Jackson. At that time it was basically old parts removed from various cars, quality uncertain Paul Molder worked at Jensens at the time and was instrumental in flagging to the JOC that we sh...

Re: Soda blasting glasfibre body/parts

There are very few options to choose from when removing paint from GRP. I had my car done in 2010 which resulted in much 'pitting' of the GRP. This caused me heaps of work to fill and get back to a paintable condition. With the age of our cars there is a strong possibility of multiple layers of pain...

Re: Ethanol in fuel, E10 USA

I agree there should not be a problem using Ethanol fuel in a car, particularly if the car is used regularly meaning the fuel in the tank is effectively changed on a regular basis. I recall using it many years ago whilst living in the UK It has however caused me a problem (and an expensive one) in m...

Vale John Pellowe

Sorry to report that John passed away on the 27 Nov 2015 after a long and hard fought illness. As more and more of the early JOC magazines are scanned in and available for download recent members, as well as early members who knew him in person, will see and know the incredible contribution John mad...

Re: Mk3: Engine boils some time AFTER stopping the engine

There is a really good solution to all these overheating problems and it surprises me to see it ignored when the logic is so good and the facts bear out the logic. One of the best modifications I have done on the 541R is to remove the thermostat altogether, remove the mechanical water pump, fit an e...

Re: Int / SP / FF: Interest in Parabolic Leaf Springs

Well, if the inter leaf inserts/cushions/buttons are worn, the ride height would decrease by about half of the wear in each one insert/etc. However this would not be inches. I am not so sure about that. It depends on where the button is and the resultant angular displacement which may be amplified ...
