Re: 440 Head Removal
Finally got one head off. My father in law made up a tool to fit at the front of the head between block and protuding ledge on head and by turning a nut it pushed the front of the head up. Worked well in the end but it took all of our strength on the end of a 10" crescent to get it to budge. It...

Valve stem seals
I have a gasket set (felpro FS 7891 PT-11) which includes 8 x valve stem seals - intake , 8 x valve stem seals -exhaust. These seals match those on my 1972 440 heads. ( HC engine with dual springs per valve) However also included in the set an extra 8 x valve stem seals . These are a similar shape t...

Re: 440 Head Removal
Thanks cannonball
All 17 head bolts are out and the head won't budge. I had the same problem with an XJ12 I had years ago and I made a puller for that so perhaps I'll have to do the same here

440 Head Removal
I cannot separate the head from the block no matter how much I lever or hammer.
All 17 bolts are out and the engine is still in the car.
Any suggestions please guys? I'm rapidly running out of hair

Re: Mustard mk3
looks like a bent panel around side grille on driver's side and damage to jacking point underneath?
Possibly result of being jacked up with rotten inner sill? Or just shadows?
Worth inspection before bidding.

Re: Door Mirrors
I remember seeing the photo on the eBay ad, and then a few days later thought “I might put in a bid just in case my S4 mirrors fail for any reason”, but too late, the auction had ended. 200 pound for the set was cheap - I think I paid over 500 pound new for both of them from the JCC in the very ear...

Re: Water Pump Options
I fitted a Flowkooler water pump to my car about 80k miles ago and it has performed perfectly in that time. Last weekend I noticed a noise from the front of the engine so I removed the belts to find out what it was. The water pump was not leaking but the bearing was noisy but still seemed to be run...

440 source water pump
Has anyone any recent experience with the 440 source water pump and housing. I'm thinking of replacing my original pump while it's off . I've read some comments on various forums saying that the 440 source housing outlet port is too small compared to std. The comments are several years old and I'm w...

What is correct alignment when replacing timing gear?
despite instructions from 2 mopar recon books and several youtube videos that say timing gear alignment mark for cam gear should be at 6 o'clock with no.1 cylinder at tdc on compression stroke mine is at 12 o'clock ( engine still in car). Then I found the following from another forum:- I took anothe...
