Re: New Owner
I second what Grant said. Some good advice there! The car looks really smart in that picture! Looks like you got a discreet private plate as well  Hello Will https://joc.org.uk/smiles/big_standart/good2.gif , welcome aboard https://joc.org.uk/smiles/artists/laie/LaieA_003.gif , I came in a pul...

Re: Jensen P66 Prototype
Mike, that colour does look *exactly* like that 1980s Vauxhall green. It is definitely not quite the Californian Sage I remember seeing on a newly painted FF visiting Cropredy in 1996. I love Stratosphere blue, a favourite. Kermit's Interceptor. Family have a not quite Stratosphere blue FF. Maybe it...

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Brilliant idea the battery isolator. That looks like a decent one too. I have been thinking about one in the transmission tunnel area, so it can be isolated more conveniently while out and about. I use the simple green knob type on the -ve, it needs to be kept very clean and doesn't always contact p...

Re: Int 3 - low miles, one owner - at ACA end Jan 21
I think we had a buyer who actually wants a good Interceptor today, not next week, and doesn't want to DIY, and doesn't want to play restoration roulette. If you look at the thread about how many hours to restore a car, in the UK, it doesn't make sense to buy one, buy the parts, pay the labour. Ther...

Re: Int 3 - low miles, one owner - at ACA end Jan 21
I think the underside shots and the interior shots helped it make that money. Somehow the stock Mk3 steering wheel managed to look really nice too. A car like that can go anywhere price wise. I think you do have to put a reserve on better quality stuff like that, if two people with the money don't t...

Re: DIY Zinc electroplating at home - my first attempt
On the ebay advert Rostyle Wheel refurbisher describes the primer and clear coat as powder based, only the chrome layer is spray on. Rejen showed me one up close a few years back that looked that impressive too like this one Nigel. I have seen unscrupulous people advertising that service on Facebook...

Re: DIY Zinc electroplating at home - my first attempt
When I was 17 I nickel plated the kickstart and a few other bits on my Ducati in my bedroom. I literally spent days prepping, the steel after prep was as shiny as the final chrome like finish I wanted before it went in. Literally it must shine. The result was like a slightly yellow chrome, good to t...

Re: LHD Dashboard Remake for Interceptor MK1,MK2 and MK3
That is brilliant info Grant. Looking again, it is interesting to see that they sand the old vinyl back a little rather than removing it completely, apply new foam, quite special foam, then spraying on the contact adhesive, before vacuum forming the vinyl over. Lots of trial and error were required ...

Re: LHD Dashboard Remake for Interceptor MK1,MK2 and MK3
I was very skeptical when I saw the first post on this thread! The problem I see is that the modern vinyl is not the same, doesn't bend the same, and requires different stitching and techniques, and won't sit right on a Mk1 dash. It is just about doable though. On a Mk3, there is no chance really, a...

Re: E10 Petrol to be introduced in the UK from 1st September 2021
Thanks Chris for the link. So it should still be possible to buy ethanol free fuel for the foreseeable future in the UK, this will be labeled E5, 5% max ethanol content, but some brands will be supplying 0% ethanol content under the E5 rules, so we just need to know which stations they are. They wil...

Re: underseal
My first rust proofing attempt was a 1978 Ford Fiesta owned from new and waxoiled after a couple of years. It rotted away after 25 years, 20 standing out in UK weather. It was regularly waxoiled over the first 15 years, then I started to lose fail in the system. The tailgate rotted out early on and ...

Re: underseal
Constant attention, dry weather only use, and a good dry garage is good. Avoid the problem where possible! I waxoiled my Ford Fiesta like crazy, it wasn't garaged, and it just blistered at all the seams regardless. I really lost faith in that as a system. Now I would try a good zink based primer on ...

But you said 2 hours, and it was back in 20 minutes!
How many of us Jensen driving, Saville Row Suited, GME stock broker types, with our nice pads in the Chilterns, a couple of secretaries and a Mclaren with gearbox problems, how many of us have IT departments like that???
Dream on!!!

Hi Colin, your reply is confusing. By Vinyl paint do you mean flexible paint intended for plastic and vinyl? You also say you touch up without Hammerite. Did you mean with Hammerite?

Re: Restoration of my 1972 MK3
Looking great! The dashboard top looks very good! a friend was trying to get his recovered and it is very difficult to get it looking like that. Is that the original covering, or have you had it redone?
