Re: Is Harry teasing us?

I'm with you on both these sentiments. The FFs are great daily cars completely standard. The car seems to have gained a few Kgs too. Fitting modern pistons in the form of a 498ci/8.1 litre stroker kit, (no need to overbore the original 383 block these days), and a decent exhaust would have done the ...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

I would say that this shot shows the later Girling type hand brake on the rear axle. Aren't the Mk1 Dunlop hand brakes all above the axle line when fitted, and the Girling below?

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

The front bulkhead is still an issue, did any FFs have the footwell ventilation like C-V8s with sliding panels covering the footwell vents (that's what the holes in the side of the footwell on the replica are for)? John Yes, all Mk1 FFs have a little sliding vent with a black knob on it on the insi...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

I'm still worrying away at this when I have a moment, which is quite often these days, and prompted by some private correspondence I went hunting on the forum for photos of the underside of an FF, having found some photos I can see that though the rear of the replica looks very C-V8 it is actually ...

Re: Interceptors in garages

When you think they have all been found / accounted for their seems plenty of barn finds, can’t believe how many 541’S are being found and restored lately.. I have noticed that, CV8's as well! There don't seem to have been as many FFs found though recently. I missed a really nice 541 at an auction ...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

What I meant is that the John Fergusson diagram does not show the cut-in, and the CV8 FF recreation does not have them either :D Clumsily worded on my part  I think a few FF owners and enthusiasts who have not ridden in the back of both Vignale and later FFs, and who haven't got a photographi...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

Fantastic photos :D . The peripheral tubes also lack the rear cut-in foot access recess like the John Fergusson diagram, so I am guessing the tubes are new. The early FFs didn't have the cut-in area. Does the John Ferguson picture have them? No John Fergusson doesn't draw them, you can see it furth...

Re: C-V8 FF Recreation

In answer to Per's last post, I think that what Ron was saying is it is a replica C-V8 FF chassis and not a replica FF chassis. That is a very confusing statement John! Hardly anyone will understand it. We should discuss and clarify "replica FF" and "replica CV8 FF" on the other...

Re: E10 Fuel to be introduced from next year

Hi John Kunifer pipe work is the ideal for brake and fuel lines. It is a copper/Nickel/Iron alloy which does not rust. Unlike copper pipe it does not become work hardened a crack. It is, however difficult to bend. I must admit I have never heard of anyone using stainless steel for brake and fuel li...

Re: E10 Fuel to be introduced from next year

I doubt this is brake fluid proof. Just checked that. The core is nitrile rubber, which is specifically not recommended for brake fluid. I have used Kunifer pipe before, and it looks quite a bit more like galvanised pipe than copper. I could try dusting it slightly with silver spray paint before fi...

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project

Fantastic picture. Good for the marque to get things like this out there. Looking forward to seeing more like this with the new number and tax disk! This reminds me of a spotless metallic blue Mk3 parked in Pinner high street in 1994. Sheets of spotless chrome, the blue, tinted windows. All I could ...

Re: 1969 Mk1 FF-R supercharged

The panel fit on my Colin Holley restored FF was far, far better than that thing. I agreed a price with Colin for work on my FF. I went to pick it up with the agreed amount. The car looked better than anyone could expect, and I seriously, seriously though I was somehow going to be asked for a lot m...

Re: Restomod C-V8 on Retropower

I would like to make another comment here. Nothing to do with Retropower. Purely about Jensen quality post war. If you look at Barker Coachbuilders, who worked for Mercedes and others, they built gorgeous, quality, light weight aluminium bodies in the early 30 with fantastic leather trim. They used ...

Re: Restomod C-V8 on Retropower

It all sounds pretty horrific to me. Such a complete and original car! Absolutely ideal project for some genius metal fabricator. I couldn't watch the whole video.
