Re: The ongoing rebuild of 125/5420

Good evening all - time for an update on my mk II rebuild project - 125/5420. I bought the car back in October 2010 from California, sight unseen but with a paid inspection by a US company that specialised in such but missed quite a few issues…… I was working in Dubai at the time and it didn’t arriv...

Re: More 440 source woes

Thanks Steve - I did replace the thermostat but can't remember where I got it from - various parts came from Summit / Jegs / 440 Source / Appleyards / Rejen / K&D (and yourself!). Will have to check the invoices.

Re: More 440 source woes

Thanks for the replies - first thing I tried was studs - with one on each end, I could just about get the covers halfway without forcing too hard - they would probably have gone if I tapped with a rubber mallet but getting them off would then be an issue. I checked the old heads today and lo and beh...

More 440 source woes

Having yet again moved halfway around the world (this time to Canada), work has finally resumed on my mk2 Interceptor, 125-5420. When I bought the car (from California), it was immediately shipped out to where I then lived (Dubai) and dismantled, without even being driven, for rebuild. I bought quit...

Re: looking to get my first jensen

Danny,

I bought my mkII from California 2 yrs or so ago - the only significant rust was in an inner sill and those triangular bits in the engine bay. One inner sill was simply missing 70% - the other one's ok! It pays to have a good look - or at least have it inspected locally (which I did)

Re: Restoration of 128/4430

Wow! I've been looking for a bit of inspiration to encourage me back to my rebuild (once the temps here drop below 40 degrees) and this looks like it - amazing job. Not sure that after a lazy lunch with a beer or two was the best time to have a first look at understanding / labelling my new wiring h...

The photo looks a bit like the old style plug in GPS antenna.

Re: 440 Source - to buy or not to buy

I have several boxes of bits from them waiting to go into my engine rebuild, including the stealth heads (and a fluid damper - anyone care to elaborate on that as I'm a newbie engine builder?), 1.6 rockers, new cam, water pump, oil pump, intake manifold, dizzy and lots of bling bits. Found their ser...

I'm in exactly the opposite position - it'll be over 40 degrees in my garage in another 6-8 weeks!

Been a while since I reported on progress, so here goes... Wire brushes are now my new best friends - although it's still a very messy job, it's way easier than anything else I've tried. Here's an idea of what I started with.... https://www.joc.org.uk/forum_images/albums/bb468/stuarta74/crud.jpg htt...

Another "all of the above" - at least it will be, once I finish restoring it and actually get to drive it!

Hi Colin - just checked my pm's again - nothing since last August, so I guess it's still out there somewhere - not the first time it's happened to me. As I said, I assumed it had got lost in the pre -Xmas rush, no big deal.

email on the way.
