Re: CV8 electrical charging system

I remember a case of serious overcharging on that day at the International and that was just paying for the replacement as yours had no output! What voltages are you seeing at idle and 2500rpm? Are the headlights wired for four low beams? If I remember, there was a huge Halfords battery on there tha...

Re: CV8 electrical charging system

Check the battery voltage with the mutleymeter on idle to see if the gauge is correct. Then try at 2500 to see what Reading you get. Don't forget to make sure Mutley is set to DC Mr Bond.

Little Gold Fizzy in the back ground too there John   did you know the originals had pedals to circumvent the 30mph restriction for learners? Most bikes pedal setups would not work as the cranks and pedals were usually bent from a lack of rider talent and would not go round. I had...

    Re: Machine Tools

Owning an older lathe is akin to older cars, you get used to their quirks and features vary between machines. You have to plan jobs around your machine and remember to change things on the fly such as the feed direction as you have a screw cutting lead screw that doubles as a feed drive. My Raglan h...

    Re: Machine Tools

You have to reverse the leadscrew rotation with the tumbler wheels in the gear cover, slacken the square head bolt and move the lever, it will likely have no stops so needs meshing correctly. Have you discovered the back gear yet?

That is a nice lathe, vee bedways and that gearbox is a real bonus you will appreciate with screw cutting and the price was just right. Have you found any numbers or identification marks to identify the manufacturer? in case you have not found it yet, http://lathes.co.uk/ is a good resource. Mike H...

Spotted these two classics in different locations today while on my daily exercise under lockdown and just minutes from my house. You see so much more on foot. John P It’s amazing what you miss through daily life if mostly driving. The 6x6 is in nice condition, much better than the one at Brookland...

Hi James I don't know what the answer is as Tony, who posted the photo on Facebook and is driving the car in the photo (which must be 20 or more years old as Tony is much greyer now), hasn't told us. But following up your lead I have actually found another photo of the car, in a Google images resul...

Do you mean ducting to the crescent shaped air outlets either side of the transmission tunnel in front of the rear seats? They are only present on the Mk111, though whether the Mk1/Mk11s had a different arrangement, outlet or outlets in a different place, I can't say. John No John, these air vents ...
