Re: 1962 Jensen 541S for sale

Regarding Stephen's comment "The nose of the car also seems a little high. Maybe this will settle with use." - read the recent threads on the CV8 technical section to see what may be causing this - wrongly fitted wishbones (?) - there are some photos showing what to look for. NB the CV8 an...

Re: Not Jensen tech advise

Kees, the marina 1275 engine will be fine. I think the 1800 engines are probably too tall for the transmission tunnel hole in the bulkhead.

Re: Not Jensen tech advise

Many years ago, I had a Morris traveller for about 10 years, mostly as my only car. With the standard 1098 cc engine and 4 speed box it would cruise at 65mph all day without issue. In my ownership I put 100000 miles on the clock. What is the point of an engine and gearbox swap that makes an old car ...

541s auto for sale (ch 1070)

Hi, we have been asked to advertise a Jensen 541S with automatic gearbox and power steering. This car is believed to have had only 3 owners from new and was restored a few years ago with considerable help from Ron Smith (purple 541R that has won many club trophies over the years). It is on the road,...

The owner is on the forum occasionally, he uses the forum identity, "Sandro Botticelli" if you want to send him a PM.

Re: Looking for info on Pete Bazeley's 541 - UK/USA

Hi Stephen, car is 541 chassis #38. records show that Peter had developed Parkinsons and the car was for sale in December 2013. Trail is cold thereafter.

Re: Austin 4-litre engine minus head

It is unlikely that this engine was ever fitted to a 541S as suggested in the ad. The oil filter head is missing the swan necked adaptor and the engine mounts are a different shape. Is there a chance this could be pre DS5 ?

Re: SEA770: 541 with V8 (331 hemi)

Hi Felix, I know this will not help much, but there is currently an Austin 4 litre engine on eBay. The reason it might be of interest is that it has the same format of engine number as that recorded against sea 770 in the chassis data book. Previously we were trying to identify the range of engines ...

Re: Phil Spencer and his Dads 541

so, original colour is deep carriage green (perhaps recorded as green in the factory ledger) with beige interior. I do not know the chassis number of this car, (and it would be really good to find out) but based on other green cars and ignoring those with known history, I guess it could be ch 178. P...

Re: Phil Spencer and his Dads 541

Hi Eddie, did you find these photos on social media somewhere? The number plate UVR 541 is recorded against chassis 179, but Jane and I inspected chassis 179 on its import into the UK from South Africa about 3 years ago. I do not believe the Phil Spencer car in the pictures is the car that we inspec...

Re: Leaf Springs - CV-8 MKII

The last time I had this problem with a 541, I used a reciprocating saw ( similar to a jigsaw but with a more pointed body and smaller "plate") with metal cutting blade. These can be a bit brutal but with care should do the trick fairly quickly. These saws are now very popular with builder...
