Manufactured in 1033 copies, the Jensen interceptor is the first car in the world to be equipped with 4 disk brakes.  The bodywork totally in steel, the superb lines signed by Vignale the celebrated Italian body worker the internal finish is ‘wall to wall’ leather the car was completely handmade.

Our rare example is left hand drive ‘LHD’ and belonged to an author for many years and it was meticulously conserved by him.  The leatherwork is superb, all of the accessories work, the paintwork is slightly faded but doesn’t need re-spraying the car also has a sun roof and air conditioning. Exchange possible.

The car serial no is 1896716. According to the garage it was one of the first series (of a total of 4 series) made between 1966-1977 it is a V8 and the LHD is very rare. The car was first bought by Coluche http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coluche then sold to a French Author whose family has just sold it for the money.  The going price in France for such a car is up to 40000€; what you must keep in mind is that notwithstanding the exchange rate the pricing equivalence in France is 1.5€/£ or 10francs /1£.

Notre JENSEN INTERCEPTOR MK1 1967 en détail :

Apparue en 1966, la JENSEN INTERCEPTOR est produite jusqu'en 1976. Britannique d'origine et de fabrication, l'auto doit ses lignes au designer italien TOURING et sa mécanique au constructeur américain CHRYSLER.

Le très luxueux coupé 4 places est donc motorisé par le fameux 383 cubic inches (6.3 litres) développant 330 chevaux. Ce dernier est accouplé à une boîte automatique TORQUEFLITE à 3 rapports.

Dotée d'une superbe finition, la JENSEN INTERCEPTOR fait partie de ces rares GT alliant le confort d'une opulente berline et les performance d'une voiture de sport. On ne retrouve ces qualités cumulées qu'au volant de coûteuses FACEL VEGA ou encore ISO RIVOLTA.

Le talent des dessins européens associé à la puissance et la robustesse des mécaniques américaines représente un cocktail réellement savoureux!

Construit en 1967, le modèle que nous proposons a fait l'objet d'une restauration complète chez JENSEN en 1976. Malgré une peinture ancienne et par endroits "fayencée", la qualité de l'auto est excellente. On ne détecte la moindre trace de corrosion ni sur la carrosserie ni sur les soubassements.

Les garnitures intérieures, tout comme la sellerie et le tableau de bord, sont en parfait état. L'ensemble de l'instrumentation de bord fonctionne à merveille.

Suite à une révision complète en nos ateliers, le V8 CHRYSLER tourne à la perfection. La pression d'huile à chaud se maintient à plus de 4 kilos. 

Nous avons nettoyé scrupuleusement les circuits de refroidissement, de carburant et d'huile. Le faisceau d'allumage est neuf, ainsi que les 8 bougies. Le carburateur CARTER quadruple corps a été démonté et passé aux ultrasons. Les freins et la direction assistés ont été revus, ainsi que les échappements.

Cette JENSEN INTERCEPTOR MK1 représente une très rare opportunité de rouler dans un superbe coupé, puissant et confortable, pour un budget des plus raisonnable.

This truly is a very special Mk1 Interceptor, not only is it 1 of just 46 left hand drive Mk1 Interceptors built but it was the personal transport of the extremely famous Author and International Playboy Harold Robbins. One of the best-selling writers of all time, he penned over 25 best-sellers, selling over 750 million copies in 32 languages, Robbins has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6743 Hollywood Boulevard. It was not only Robbins books that would make him famous but his hedonistic lifestyle also became a source of notoriety. The Jensen was Harold Robbins personal transport for around 20 years and was often seen on the South of France/ Monaco scene, parked in the various harbours next to his private yacht (as seen in the pictures) and whisking him from parties to Casino's up and down the coast, still even sporting a "Port Pierre Canto" parking sticker on the windscreen. Robbins loved the Jensen so much he sent the car back to the Jensen factory in around 76 for a refurb and he often used a picture of him sitting on the front of a Jensen on his books dust covers. This Jensen Mk1 Interceptor has some very interesting features from its yellow Marchal head lights, to air conditioning, to its metal sunroof as specified by the author and most importantly it's dash mounted Dictaphone in which Harold Robbins would dictate his latest best seller often reflecting his own experiences and latest escapades as he fluttered between his boat and parties.
