EBay end price was showing £1550. As far as a write off is concerned, maybe it will be broken but Alan was of the opinion that it was salvageable as a mongrel. Whoever put the new body on made a damn good job of it, the lead loaded areas were nigh on perfect.

I will endeavour to find out more.

Cheers,

Tony

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE HEMI ENGINE WAS NOT FITTED TO THE INTERCEPTOR BUT IT IS A PRE EMISSION 325 BHP CHRYSLER ENGINE.THE NUMBER PLATE IN THE PHOTOS IS INCORRECT - IT IS OFF MY MINI! THE CORRECT REG IS YTA 186E,CHASSIS NO.115-2535,ENGINE NO.549-15B,6276cc.THE CAR WAS REGISTERED 10.03.1967 SO MUST BE A PRE PRODUCTION MODEL AS THE INTERCEPTOR WAS LAUNCHED AT THE EARLS COURT MOTOR SHOW IN OCTOBER 1967.I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 1989 AND SHORTLY AFTER HAD RESTORATION WORK CARRIED OUT TO THE SILLS, FLOORPANS , WINGS AND A COMPLETE RESPRAY PLUS A COMPLETE STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST AT £428.THE CAR THEN WENT INTO STORAGE FOR 10 YEARS.NEW TYRES WERE FITTED AND IT PASSED AN MOT BUT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS SO WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO SADLY PARKED IT IN A FIELD FOR A YEAR.I RETREIVED THE CAR AND HAVE STORED IT SINCE.THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE REMOVED THE PUSHRODS AS SOME WERE BENT BUT NOW THE ENGINE IS SEIZED WITH STANDING.THIS CAR WILL NEED TOTAL RESTORATION OR USED FOR SPARE PARTS.

I HAVE HAD CONFIRMATION THAT THIS CAR IS ONE OF 62 BUILT AT THE VIGNALE FACTORY IN ITALY AND ONE OF THE FEW THAT STILL EXIST.IT WAS DELIVERED TO THE AGENTS IN MARCH 1967 IN A PALE BLUE METALLIC AND REGISTERED TO ITS FIRST OWNER DAYS LATER.IT WAS VERY COMMON TO HAVE THESE CARS UPDATED AT THE FACTORY SO I ASSUME THAT IS WHY SOME PARTS ARE MK3.APPARENTLY IT IS TOO VALUABLE/RARE TO USE FOR SPARES.

Q:

Hi could you tell me if the interior lights are in place and are they mk1 ie part of the interior grab handles. Also what condition is the front valence in and where are the front side lights indicators as thet are above the bumper on the mk1. are they combined units ie indicator and side light or just indicator. are the exhausts stainles all the way through or just the boxes. I am restoring a mk1 and may buy it for spares if there are some parts i can use. Many thanks Bob

A:

Hi,it has been confirmed as one of 62 cars built at the Vignale factry Italy so is 1 of few remaining. It was delivered to the agents in March 1967 and registered to its first owner days later(finished in pale metallic blue).I agree that the mk3 additions were possibly done at the factoy. The stainless exhaust is a complete system but I am told that the car is too rare/valuable to use for spares.Cheers.

Q:

hi just a freindly note that I think you have a series three jensen ,I doubt very much that its fitted with a hemi v8 a photo of the engine would be useful to verify this cheers dan.

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi Dan,the hemi must have come from a faulty memory.The car is a 6.3 MK1 with mk3 overtones.Cheers.

Q:

Hello, I'm the archivist for the Jensen Owners' Club and this car seems to be a mixture of bits from Mk I, II and III interceptors! Do you have the chassis number and any other history for the car? John Lane

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi John,I fitted a mk3 interior as the original was vinyl so with it being registered 10.03.1967 made me think it was a pre production or test car?The front lights were probably changed by a previous owner. The chassis no. is 115-2535.Cheers.

Q:

hi can you send some more photos by the arches and the engine and engin bay cheers ted ps does any of the elects work and turn over at all and how the gearbox i know im asking a lot cheers

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi,no battery but as the engine would not turn no point. The gearbox worked 10 years ago!I have tried to add some pictures without sucess. The srches were replaced in 1989.Cheers.

Q:

Hi , I live local (Newton Abbot) and i'm the South West Area Rep for the Jensen Owners Club. I can give you quite a bit of info on the car and help you by putting a free ad on the JOC Forum etc.. I also have access to a databook which gives me the original spec & extras. All i need is the chassis number which should be 3 numbers & 4 numbers. You can find it on a plate near the battery of on the V5 , mine is 128/4451 for instance. I think you will find its a Mk2 or Mk3 judging by the dash & seats. I am intrigued as it has Mk1 doorcards !! Regards John Pym

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi John, thanks for your offer - there is some confusion about the model not helped by me changing the interior from a 1972 model as mine came with a vinyl interior. The Chassis No. is 115-2535.Cheers.

Q:

hello can you please give me full engine number. Its on a plate next to the dizzy (right head) many thanks Will

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi Will,it is 549-15B.Cheers.

Q:

Hello, are you sure that this is a MK1? The bumpers and the turn signals are from Mk2 od later. Is it a 6.3 or a 7.2 engine? Best regards from germany Patrick

11-Aug-11

A:

Hi Patrick,it is a 1967 mk1 which had probably been made to look newer before I bought it as it had a private plate.Cheers.
