This is not a "Barn Find" and neither has it been stored for 40 years and found with low mileage. My Jensen Interceptor Mk1 has just completed a very extensive and expensive total rebuiild and refurbishment by appropriate specialists. Invoices show expenditure over £40K. The car has all correct numbers for chassis and engine and is listed in the Jensen "Bible" as 1969. Bare metal respray with new panels as required - wings, tubes etc, then zinc coated before a quality respray in dark blue ( the original colour was light metallic blue) . The engine was totally rebuilt by V8 specialists with pistons, conrods, rings and shells imported from the USA. The head has been converted to unleaded. A new Carter Carb with chrome air filter is fitted together with new cooling fan motors, radiator and hoses. The car starts on the button and runs beautifully.

The manifold headers have been replaced and there is a new exhaust system including rear

pipes. The gearbox has been rebuilt and changes are smooth and silent. All chrome was replated by Custom Chrome , Worcester, to a high standard, replating costs were in excess of £4K. All stainless steel items were repolished. The driver's and passenger seats have been recovered in high quality black leather and the rear seats reconnollised and they now have an excellent patina appropriate to the car. There are new door trims and new wood veneer panels, all instruments checked and working. There is a quality period radio fitted. All lights have been replaced. There is new glass in both doors together with new electric window motors. Panel fit is excellent and new seals have been fitted to the doors. The suspension has been stripped and there are Adjustable SPAX shocks fitted- the original Selectaride shocks are with the car. The car has just returned from an extended stay with Appleyards of Ilkeston, marque specialists, where it was thoroughly checked. I am not a purist and those who know these things will note that the wheels are from a Mk2 - I think they look better although the original Mk1 wheels are with the car. The car looks magnificent and the work carried out has resulted in it being reliable and a great drive. South of France or anywhere else, not a problem. By some standards it is not cheap, but there will be no need for further expenditure and it can be driven with confidence. The car comes with a 12 month MOT and 12 months free tax. There are some spares, a rear axle, propshaft and other small items.
